All is well here. The docs say my blood numbers are where they ought to be, which right is quite low. The coming week will see the beginning of their attempts to start making my counts rebound. I'm looking forward to that. I'm still fairly low energy, but I try to get out for my walks when I can. I've had a slight problem with nausea when eating, so they've been giving me zolfran to combat it, allowing me to go ahead and eat. A lot of my fellow patients here clearly have a real problem getting anything down, so I'm very grateful that my situation is not so dire. Not eating could take you down real fast.
Some have asked what visitation rules are here. Here they are:
1. Two visitors at a time. (Although they seem flexible on this.)
2. No one under the age of 12.
3. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
4. Visitors must wear a mask and gloves in the room. (And a fetching yellow smock under certain conditions!)

Top of the marnin',Laddie! It was really wonderful to see you this weekend, and you looked GREAT, so that makes YOU the morale booster! We were only too happy to wear those 'fetching' paper smocks, (even tho yellow is not my color, and they certainly are hot)! :>)
ReplyDeleteIn the interest of BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY(and being in the healthcare field) I'm going to be so bold as to add some extra precautions to the visitor rules list, given Mikbar's currently non-existent immunity:
*NO COLDS/COUGHS/RUNNY NOSES/FEVERS/DIARRHEA. No exceptions.
*OR, even if you feel like you MIGHT be coming down with something, please reschedule your visit until you feel at your best.
*No flowers or plants.
*THOROUGH HANDWASHING - you can't use water hot enough to kill certain germs, so lots of SOAP and ANTIBACTERIAL spooge is crucial.
As they say, AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN A POUND OF CURE, and this being above and beyond the typical hospitalization, Mikbar's is the quintessential situation to practice such strict safety precautions.
None of us that love Mikbar(and his wife) want to be the source of any infection, so I hope this information is useful. Thank you!
